Most auto accidents that lead to injuries or worse are just that – accidents. Even if a driver who is at fault was drinking, texting or otherwise not paying attention, that doesn’t mean that the intent to cause an accident was present. Instead, these incidents are usually attributed to negligence or even recklessness. However, in rare instances, accidents can be the result of intent, regardless of how depraved that intent was at the time.
Sadly, police are alleging that such intent was present in a crash in South Sacramento that left three people injured. According to CBS 13:
“A rollover crash in south Sacramento that knocked out power and sent three people to the hospital was not an accident. Police say one vehicle intentionally rammed another sending it into a power pole.
The crash happened at Bruceville Road and Calvine Road. Two vehicles were involved in the crash that sent a Lexus careening into a power pole and flipped. The power pole came down and live power lines fell across the vehicle.
At least two people were trapped inside the Lexus while emergency crews worked to rescue them amid the hot power lines. Once freed, the victims were taken to the hospital. In all, three people were hurt. There injuries are said to be minor.”
The report goes on to say that the drivers knew each other, but the bottom line is that this sort of conduct caused multiple injuries. Fortunately, no one was killed.
