Skateboarder Run Down in Sonora

Skateboarding has long been a controversial issue for many, as it’s considered dangerous by some and unfortunately carries an image with it that isn’t positive for many others. Regardless of those notions, however, people riding on skateboards have the same rights as anyone else. Therefore, when a skateboarder is apparently clipped intentionally by a car, those responsible need to be held accountable.

According to the Modesto Bee:

“Police on Wednesday afternoon were looking for a group of suspects who were in a car that hit a man riding a skateboard Monday night and left the scene.

The 29-year-old Sonora man suffered moderate nonlife-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center. Sonora police did not release his name to ensure his safety.

The man told police he was riding his skateboard along the east side of the street when he heard the car approaching him. The victim turned around and saw a rear passenger hanging out of the car’s side window, yelling something at him. Stinson said the car then intentionally swerved toward the man and struck him. The victim rolled up on the hood and then fell on the pavement.”

While investigators still need to locate the vehicle and its occupants for questioning, if the victim’s story is true there will be liability issues that arise on both the criminal and civil law levels. If you or someone you love has been injured by an act of recklessness or even intentional conduct, you need to act now to bring those responsible for those injuries to justice.
