Traffic Light Mistake Leads to Three Injuries in Auto Accident

There are many intersections that have both solid green lights and green arrow lights that control when a driver turns left across the opposite lanes. Some drivers have confused one with the other, and when this happens the mistaken driver turns into oncoming traffic unexpectedly. Apparently, that’s what occurred in a recent crash near Sacramento County that left three people injured.

According to the Appeal Democrat:

“A two-vehicle collision on Monday sent three people to hospitals and choked off northbound traffic on Highway 99/70 in south Sutter County.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the accident shortly before 1 p.m. at Riego Road, just north of the Sacramento County line. Both drivers in the accident were hospitalized — Dilraj Singh Sohi, 54, of Antelope at Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael and Jorge Rojas, 46, of Oroville at Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

Sohi was attempting to turn his 1996 Honda Accord from southbound 99/70 east onto Riego Road when his car and an oncoming 2001 Ford Explorer driven by Rojas collided, according to the CHP. The agency said Sohi told officers he mistook a green traffic light for a green left arrow allowing him to make the turn.”

Luckily, no one was seriously injured, and everyone is expected to recover. However, not everyone is so fortunate, and if you or someone you love has been injured in an auto accident, you need to seek the help of Sacramento auto accidents lawyers who understand how to fight for the rights of those wrongfully injured.
