A Sacramento car accident killed a passenger early Tuesday morning. The accident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on  westbound Highway 50 near Interstate 5.

As reported by the California Highway Patrol a broken down car was parked in the slow lane, when an oncoming vehicle smashed into the back of it. Unfortunately, the passenger in the broken-down car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was immediately transported to a local hospital.  Apparently the  of the oncoming car was not injured.The fatal Sacramento car accident remains under investigation.

According to the California Highway Patrol Integrated Traffic Records System 2008 there were 47 fatalities and 3,022 collisions injuries in Sacramento,  155 of which happened between 12 and 2 a.m.
