We posted recently regarding a horrifying fatal Fresno bus accident that left six people dead and dozens of people injured. At the time, police stated that the Greyhound bus that was involved in the accident hit an SUV that was not upright on the highway, but little was known about the condition of the drivers. As is the norm with these accidents, toxicology reports were generated, and now comes word that the driver of the SUV that was hit by the Greyhound was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time.
According to police, the driver of the SUV, 18-year-old Sylvia Lopez Garay of Dinuba had a blood alcohol content that was above the legal limit in California. Statements gathered by police indicate that Ms. Garay and that the three women who were in the SUV had spent the evening at a dance party in the Tower District of Fresno before overturning the SUV on the highway. The fatal Fresno bus accident occurred in the northbound lanes on California Highway 99 near McKinley Avenue in Fresno. Six people have been killed and 34 people were injured.
