A pedestrian was seriously injured in a Sacramento accident on Monday evening. Sacramento Hit-and-Run Accident Fatal for Bicyclist

A 30-year-old woman died on Thursday afternoon after being hit by a car in Sacramento while riding her bike on Watt Avenue. At around 6 p.m., the victim was struck by vehicle driven by Dorothy Lee Jefferies, who proceeded to flee from the scene. Fatal Elk Grove Bicycle Accident

A bicyclist died on Tuesday after being struck by a Honda minivan traveling east bound on Sheldon Road in Elk Grove. The incident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. while the bicyclist was attempting to cross Sheldon Road. The unidentified victim, thought to be 50-60 years old, was thrown up onto the windshield and was declared dead at the scene. Although this Elk Grove accident remains under investigation, first reports indicate that no drugs or alcohol were involved.

6 Year Old Killed In Merced Bike vs. Car Accident

Six year old Andrew Jackson was riding his bike in the 400 block of Connie Court in Merced around 5 p.m. on Monday when he was struck by a Toyota Tacoma being driven by Cher Thao, 58 of Merced. Lodi Collision Kills Lodi Man

Ryan Theodore Lucas, 33, died three days after his bicycle collided with a motorcycle while he was crossing the street. The bicycle accident occurred on Thursday around 5 am in Lodi. Mr. Lucas rode in a front of Harley Davidson on Tokyo Street near Ham Lane. The 54-year-old motorcyclist, Reverend David Garner, suffered serious personal injuries. Both victims were flown to the UC Davis Medical Center. Police reports that Mr. Lucas was riding south and crossed the road into Garner’s lane. The Lodi accident remains under investigation. Authorities do not inform if alcohol and drugs were a factor.

Chuck Jaffee, 60, of Nevada City was injured in head-on collision involving a U.S. Postal Service truck on Tuesday afternoon. At about 12:15 p.m., Mr. Jaffee was riding his bicycle west-bound down a hill on Pasquale Road when the mail truck, driven by Kaci Large, 24, of Colfax, was heading the opposite direction. According to police, Mr. Jaffee, was making a sweeping turn and did not see the oncoming truck. Ms. Large swerved the right in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid the collision.

Mr. Jaffee may not have been wearing a helmet and sustained an open scalp wound. He was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Sacramento Bicycle Accident Kills a Man, Personal Injury Lawyers Sacramento

A Sacramento bicyclist died this weekend after colliding with a minivan. He was identified by the Sacramento Coroner as Thomas Irwin (38), a resident of Lincoln.

The fatal accident occurred around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of Carlson Drive and H Street, in front of Fremont Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Irwin, suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. The woman who was driving the minivan was not injured.

One witness apparently reported that the minivan had a green light at the intersection at the time of the crash. Although further details of the accident are still under the investigation, a spokesperson for the Sacramento Police Department reports that drugs and alcohol were not a factor.

Our deepest condolences go out to the to the family and friends of Thomas Irwin. Unfortunately, this tragedy is a reminder to both motorists and bicyclists of the importance of driving safely. The California Highway Patrol Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System shows that, in 2008, 11,683 people were injured in bicycle accidents. 131 of those bicycle crashes were fatal, and 11 of the victims were between 35 and 44 years old.
