A female passenger died in a Sacramento motorcycle accident on Saturday night. The fatal accident occurred in the intersection of 16th Street and Richards Boulevard. The rider of a motorcycle was killed Tuesday morning when a Mercury Sable driven by a 17 year old male swerved out of control and  into the center median on Highway 99 north of 47th Avenue.  As the driver was trying to correct his vehicle, it collided with a Harley-Davidson driven James Walter Murphy of Wilton.  The motorcycle then collided with another vehicle.  The teenage driver ran south on 47th Avenue but was later apprehended by CHP officers.  Mr. Murphy was transported to U.C. Davis Medical Center with major head injuries but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

A 44-year–old Elk Grove man died after his motorcycle collided with the rear of a pickup truck on Interstate 80 in Davis. Donlad J. Halverstadt and his wife were riding on their Harley Davidson on Interstate 80. As reported by the California Highway Patrol, around 11:15p.m. the couple on the motorcycle was traveling behind and slightly to the right of a Toyota Tundra pickup. Suddenly and  for unknown reasons the motorcycle veered left and collided with the rear of the Tundra. The driver was instantly ejected from the motorcycle. Mr. Halverstadt was taken to the U.C. Davis Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Dana Halverstadt, suffered major injuries to her hands, knees and hips. The driver and the passenger of the pickup were not injured.  The Davis crash remains under investigation. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor. The motorcycle and the pickup appear to have been  traveling at a safe speed.

Several people sustained serious injuries and a motorcyclist was killed on Tuesday in a four vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 505 north of the Patah Creek Bridge.  According to the California Highway Patrol, the first collision occurred at approximately 10:12 p.m. on Tuesday when Thomas Roberts of Newark allowed his Ford Taurus to drift into the center median then overcorrected, cut across several lanes of traffic, and hit collided with a guardrail before bouncing back into the roadway.  The Taurus, which had 5 passengers, was then struck by a Toyota Corolla at a high rate of speed, knocking it into the opposing lanes of traffic where it was struck again by a Lexus driven by 74 year old Robert Ardave.

Immediately after the first collisions, Oscar Alfaro, 48, of Antioch, encountered the strewn vehicle wreckage on his southbound motorcycle and tried to use the shoulder to go around the obstructions.  However, he ended up laying the motorcycle down and was ejected over the bridge embankment and into the creek.  Unfortunately, Mr. Alfaro was pronounced dead on the scene.

Two occupants of the Taurus, including an infant, sustained major injuries and were transported to U.C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento for emergency medical care.  Other victims involved in this California car crash suffered minor personal injuries.

Mr. Roberts was arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving.

Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry was injured Thursday afternoon in Middleborough, Massachusetts when the motorcycle he was riding was rear ended by a car. Aaron Murdaugh, 24, of Modesto was pronounced dead after his motorcycle crashed with a passenger car on Wednesday. Mr. Murdaugh was riding in the eastbound lanes of Briggs when the accident happened. Ryan Theodore Lucas, 33, died three days after his bicycle collided with a motorcycle while he was crossing the street. The bicycle accident occurred on Thursday around 5 am in Lodi. Mr. Lucas rode in a front of Harley Davidson on Tokyo Street near Ham Lane. The 54-year-old motorcyclist, Reverend David Garner, suffered serious personal injuries. Vincent Garrett, 46 sustained major injuries in a Woodland motorcycle accident after the motorcycle he was on collided with a slower moving car.  Police report that Mr. Garrett was traveling north on CR-98 at more than 70 mph when he struck the back of  a 2004 Honda Civic being driven by 38-year old Liz Sardinas of Davis.

The man was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the freeway, which caused serious head injuries. Mr. Garrett was airlifted to the UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. The motorcycle was destroyed in fire.

Rodney Tate Sr., 50, sustained major injuries in a Lodi motorcycle accident after his motorcycle collided in the merge lane on Highway 99 on Monday. According to the police report Mr. Tate was riding a 2008 Harley Davidson southbound, trying to merge onto Highway 99 from Turner Road. Around 3:40 p.m. the driver of a  Acura Integra moved into the merge lane and crashed into the motorcyclist. .  Mr. Tate  suffered serious personal injuries and was taken by  helicopter to the trauma center. The driver of the Acura, Maria Serreira, 31, of Galt, and her passenger suffered minor injuries and were both taken to the hospital for treatment.  It appears that Ms. Serreira doesn’t  have a California driver’s license. The Police could not track down her driving record.

On May 19, 2010, another California motorcycle accident killed the motorcycle’s driver, Gregg Haskell, when his Harley-Davidson drifted off of west bound Horseshoe Road between Knights Ferry and Oakdale at approximately 45 miles per hour.  At 7:05 p.m., Mr. Haskell’s Harley drifted off the road and off the road, across a dirt shoulder and struck an asphalt curb near Honolulu Bar.  Mr. Haskell, 57 years old, was thrown from his bike and hit an oak tree.
