Four teenagers were seriously injured in a Folsom roll-over car accident on Wednesday night. Based on the police report, drugs and alcohol could be a factor in the Folsom car crash.

Around 11:40 pm a sports car overturned on Heritage Place. As a result, three passenger teens were ejected from a red Ford Explorer. A 17-year-old driver was still belted in the car.

The four victims were taken to local hospitals for the medical treatment. As police were investigating the Folsom car accident, broken bottles of whiskey and marijuana paraphernalia were found along the path of the crash. The SUV was speeding northbound on Heritage Place, when the driver lost control and crossed over the center of the road. The driver did not have a license and was the only person in the Ford Explorer wearing seatbelts. He was arrested for driving under the influence and taken into Sacramento Juvenile Hall.

Vincent Garrett, 46 sustained major injuries in a Woodland motorcycle accident after the motorcycle he was on collided with a slower moving car.  Police report that Mr. Garrett was traveling north on CR-98 at more than 70 mph when he struck the back of  a 2004 Honda Civic being driven by 38-year old Liz Sardinas of Davis.

The man was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the freeway, which caused serious head injuries. Mr. Garrett was airlifted to the UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. The motorcycle was destroyed in fire.

Ms. Sardinas was transported to Woodland Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The California motorcycle crash remains under investigation, although drugs and alcohol were not felt to be a factor.

Rodney Tate Sr., 50, sustained major injuries in a Lodi motorcycle accident after his motorcycle collided in the merge lane on Highway 99 on Monday. According to the police report Mr. Tate was riding a 2008 Harley Davidson southbound, trying to merge onto Highway 99 from Turner Road. Around 3:40 p.m. the driver of a  Acura Integra moved into the merge lane and crashed into the motorcyclist. .  Mr. Tate  suffered serious personal injuries and was taken by  helicopter to the trauma center. The driver of the Acura, Maria Serreira, 31, of Galt, and her passenger suffered minor injuries and were both taken to the hospital for treatment.  It appears that Ms. Serreira doesn’t  have a California driver’s license. The Police could not track down her driving record.

Five people were injured Wednesday night in a single-car accident on Highway 70 north of Erle Road in Yuba-Sutter. According to the CHP, they are investigating a witness report that a Honda Accord being driven by Thomas Ramirez, 17, of Marysville, may have been racing another vehicle when it went out of control, veered right, skipped off one tree then struck a second head-on.  A male passenger suffered head and chest injuries and was taken to the U.C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. A female passenger was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with a broken leg. Three others were taken to Rideout Memorial Hospital.

A catastrophic series of automobile crashes on Highway 99 killed a man on Thursday morning. The man was identified as Robert Alverson, 50, of Sacramento. As reported by the California Highway Patrol, around 5:10 a.m, Mr. Alverson stopped to help out motorists, who were involved in a crash on northbound Highway 99.  Apparently, Mr. Alveroson was walking toward the collision to render assistance when he was struck by a motorist who was driving under the influence. Mr. Alversonwas propelled into the southbound lanes where he was struck  again by another vehicle. Mr. Alveroson died at the scene of the accident. The Sacramento car crash remains under investigation however it appears as if another innocent live was taken by a drunk driver. Another Californian was lost last week due an alleged DUI California car accident.  The California Highway Patrol reports that Scott Farinha was driving his Chevrolet Camaro on Highway 138 near Phelan last Friday afternoon when a vehicle being driven by 45-year-old Zimmie Burnath, proceeding in the opposite direction, crossed over into his lane of traffic and caused a head on collision.  Unfortunately, Mr. Farinha was declared dead at the scene.

The CHP reported that Ms. Burnath was likely under the influence of alcohol when officers attempted to pull her over for swerving into oncoming traffic.  Instead, Ms. Burnath led officers on a 5 mile high speed chase that reached speeds of 100 m.p.h. while she weaved in and out of traffic and narrowly missed other vehicles before colliding head on with Mr. Farinha’s Camaro.  The intoxicated Burnath survived the crash, but was transported to the hospital with major personal injuries.  Ms. Burnath will face charges of driving under the influence, evading police and murder when she is released from the hospital.

A 22-year-old woman was killed Sunday night in a tragic car crash that took place on westbound Interstate 80 near Antelope Road in Citrus Heights.

According to information provided by the Highway Patrol, a white Mercedes 190E being driven by a woman in the number two lane at an unknown speed came into contact with an orange Honda Element going approximately 75 miles per hour in the next lane over.  The Mercedes apparently clipped the Honda, causing both vehicles to spin out of control and collide with each other and the center median.  The driver of the Honda and two of his passengers were taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with various personal injuries ranging from pain and abrasions to a broken arm. A third passenger was transported to San Juan Medical Center for cuts to his face.

The identity of the woman who tragically died in the Mercedes has not been released pending notification of relatives.  We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of the woman.

Jose Zamudio of West Sacramento was injured after being attacked by two pit bulls .The incident happened around 11 a.m. Sunday at 1621 Hobson St., in West Sacramento.

Mr. Zamudio was just leaving his fenced front yard at his home when he noticed two pit bull dogs, running at him and barking. Mr. Zamudio immediately reached for a pocket knife he had on him in an effort to defend himself.  Just then the adult female pit bull lunged and began biting him on both forearms, inflicting numerous cuts and puncture wounds. At the time of the accident Rita Gomez,  Mr. Zamudio’s girlfriend was in the house. As soon as she heard her boyfriend screaming she called 911. The victim of this brutal attack was able to manage to get back into his fenced front yard and then into his residence. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Zamudio was taken to a hospital for emergency medical care.

The dogs’ owner, Octavio Romero, who lives at 1609 Hobson, turned both dogs over to authorities.

A California auto accident seriously injured a diver and a passenger on early Saturday morning. Last week’s tragic California car accident killed Gregory Roush, a 60-year-old Folsom resident. The collision happened behind the Sutter Middle School at the intersection of Coloma Street and Dean Way. Mr. Roush was driving an old Ford pickup truck, and ran a stop sign. A Lincoln Navigator, driven by the unidentified woman with her two children, was southbound on Coloma, stopped at the stop sign and entered the intersection when the pickup struck her vehicle on the rear passenger side.

The strength of the crash spun the Lincoln 360 degrees. The Ford continued through the intersection slamming into a power pole. Mr. Roush was taken to an area hospital where he died. The two children and their mother were transported to the local hospital.
